its stock right now but im looking to get a chip in it cold air intake an exaust the cheeap stuff how fast will it go in a 1/4 mile with that an wat are other things l can do to it cheap or expencive

l am going to assume u do not have an Evo, since they were not available in 2002...

That said, there is a few mistakes you're about to make.

First, do not get a performance chip. They do NOTHING for ur car, except rearrange ur fuel mapping. Which does several things. You gain a few horsepower at specific rpm, & u lose it in others. So while ur dyno might look a little nicer, u will lose acceleration. And u will lose gas mileage. And, by running lean (which is how most of these chips achieve their ''performance''), u will damage ur engine.

Second, an intake & exhaust, at best, will give u around 4-5 horsepower. At BEST. Again, only at certain rpm. I've seen plenty of dynos that show a nice gain at peak, but ignore that u lose anywhere up to 20 horsepower, in lower torque bands.

To get this gain, even if u go cheap, u will be spending around 600-700$.

And a gain of 4-5 horsepower, will not alter ur 1/4 mile time in the slightest. It is simply too little of a difference to be noticeable. You can get the same gain, by getting new sparkplugs, & doing a tuneup.

Stock, a 2002 Lancer does a 1/4 mile in around 18 seconds. Assuming a perfect launch. Depending on reaction time & traction, it could be as high as 18.5.

Slower than many minivans on the market.

Other things u can do? Get rid of the car, & start off with a performance vehicle. You have a 4 door sedan. It is for getting groceries. That is about it.

Thats basically almost all of the parts if your going cheap. Maybe with intake, exhaust system, ecu/piggy, and headers you will probably get around 20 hp gain the most of it. maybe around .8 difference on 1/4
