it will be attached to a belt, it is not very big and should be roundish and attached to the engine.

l would say like most Mitsubishi its on the timing belt under timing cover

It is under the cam belt covers. It is driven by the timing belt and is not a project for most mechanics, let alone backyard mechanics. Take it to a Mitsubishi dealer so it gets done right. 6 hours labor for the belt plus 1/2 hour extra for the water pump. Make sure stock parts are used!

Water pump is located beside the timing belt on the front end of the engine. If you're going to replace the water pump, change the timing belt also as these two things located at the same spot (save money on labor). You can DIY if you're a mechanically inclined person. l did it myself on my 03 Lancer(save myself some cash on labor which is not cheap). Mitsu dealer would charge the S*** out of you.
