My '97 3000gt needs a new tranny, so l was going to drop in a new Vr-4 engine and tranny also that came with it. Only problem is, the car is an automatic FWD and the new tranny is for a manual AWD. Can l just buy an automatic FWD tranny and bolt it on to the new VR-4 engine?

yes and you will fukk up ur car

no because your car is FWD if it was AWD then yes you could do it but your car only has one driveshaft so no you cannot do it unless you modify your car and put in another driveshaft

u can bolt the vr-4 engine to an automatic transmission, it is the same engine as the standard 3000gt just twin turbo. u will have to get a new computer that is compatible with the vr-4 engine, ur standard 3000gt computer does not have the right fuel, air, spark information to run the turbo motor. u could run the vr-4 computer, but l believe that it also runs some of the fancy devices that r on the vr-4. this could cause problems with it running properly. plus l do not know if the automatic is able to handle running that kind of horsepower to only two wheels, so l would advise against it.

Its possible but its going to cost u loads, loads, & loads of money. You need convert ur whole car into AWD from FWD, this is a required if ur going to do a Vr4 awd engine swap. Then the manual tranny, then the vr4 engine plus redo all the harness, meaning stripping out every wire & putting the vr4 harness in. New Ecu, new motor mounts, new axles, etc. etc.

So, basically ur tossing every thing out, & l mean everything. And starting all over from scratch frame. Then doing a Vr4 build from there. thats going to cost $30k-$35k + plus labor, tax, shipping, etc. It would not be worth it. Just do a engine rebuild & a new tranny, then u will be happy & wo not regret it.
