what is better? having a turbo system or a nitrous system?

This always depends on the vehicle, engine & use. Please be aware that either modification will void warranties & could cause permanent damage to the point of destruction to ur engine. A nitrous setup is potentially cheaper & can be used on demand by pressing a button. A turbo kicks in extra power at a certain engine RPM according to how it is tuned. A turbo compresses the air in the engine by a fan which is driven by exhaust gasses. Nitrous is short for Nitrous Oxide, a gas which is more combustible than the fuel air mixture in ur engine in its stock configuration. More often than not, slapping a NOS system on ur vehicle will lead to damaging ur vehicle. A turbo when properly tuned would be the more reliable solution.

A turbo setup adds power at the RPM band where u r getting into the throttle hard.

A NOS setup adds a burst of power with the injection of the gas into ur engine triggered by a button.

NOS is used up as it is simply a gas in a bottle & u can refill it. It is illegal to use NOS on the streets in most if not all states, whereas turbos r legal.

Be aware, ur vehicle may no longer pass emissions with a turbo setup.

If you have nitrous it could crack your pistons

this is a stupid question,
-what is the car? engine size, stock or to what degree has the engine been built out/enhanced?
-for what purpose is the extra power, street, strip?
-why have not u included a supercharger (better than a turbo in many applications)?
-what is ur budget? any mechanical skills or is this a shop installation?

Depends. If u baby ur car every day & occasionally go to the track the nitrous oxide setup may be better for you.

Turbos do not need to be refilled so if you'd be running around using ur ''system'' every day you'd be way better off with it.

Either one of them requires a good amount of tuning, a wet nitrous kit would be the easiest however since u just need to change ur spark plugs & get all the hardware installed & it will get u probably 50-75hp depending on what kit u use. The turbo u will need to tune for (which involves an adjustable FPR, new injectors, ECU re-map, possibly pistons & rods if u r running high enough boost) or else u will lean out ur engine or otherwise damage it.

In my point of view, nitrous is only recommended for people who really does not race or go to the track that much & only needs the little extra boost when needed. If ur using nitrous everytime running like 100 shots. Except to refill about $50 total. Nitrous do tend to run out really really really fast depending on how many shots ur running. Turbo on the other hand is more expensive & the boost will always be there when needed. Plus, u can upgrade ur internals(expensive as well) & get a bigger turbo then u can loads of gain but unlimited boosts. Just watch out for wear & tear using both of them though. And always be prepare with some cash when something goes bad.
