my transmission fluid is kinda brown what does that mean???

it means you need to have the filter and fluid changed, hope its not too late

That means it is very dirty and needs to be completely flushed out before you start doing serious damage to the transmission.

Transmission fluid loses its ability to lubricate as well as transfer heat. This causes extra wear on the internal clutches and gears.

You might need a transmission flush. A lot of people over look this simple mantainence for their car. Just like you need an oil change every so often. you need a transmission flush.

Time to flush it and there is a difference between a service and a flush. Flush will cost more but it is the better way to go and Mitsubishi takes special fluid.

Transmission fluid has a reddish dye added to it to differentiate it from other engine oils. After a period of time that dye breaks down and discolored by heat and/or clutch material. Change the oil and filter (if possible). If your not experiencing any signs of transmission slippage, then you wo not be wasting your money on the oil change

it is time for transmission fluid service! do it soon for a very cheap cost of service or spend spend thousand of dollars later. transmission fluid should be changed every 50000 miles.

That said, here is some generic advice.

If automatic, then the fluid should be red as has been pointed out. Be sure u replace using a Mitsu Specific transmission fluid or u could end up destroying ur transmission.

As for filter changes, some filters simply need to be cleaned/washed, while others may need to be changed.
